In 2010 the City of Hermann Board of Aldermen began discussing a plan to trap and kill the estimated 1000 homeless cats in Hermann. In response, a group of concerned citizens formed Ferals in Peril, Inc. a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit group, to humanely lower the homeless cat population through a trap/neuter/release program.
In this time, we have been involved in more than 1000 spays/neuters and found homes for hundreds of cats and kittens. Today there are very few homeless cats in Hermann area.
We receive no money from any government entity. Our work is done with donations and grants. Our members help in a variety of ways; trapping, providing temporary shelter, transporting cats, designing signs, fund raising, record keeping, and watching for new homeless cats throughout the Hermann area. It would not be possible to continue with these statistics without the help of everyone involved.
We would love for you to join us or come to a meeting to learn more! We meet monthly at the Hermann Library. Give us a call at 574-694-1702 for the upcoming time and date.
