In 2010 the City of Hermann Board of Aldermen began discussing a plan to trap and kill the estimated 1000 homeless cats in Hermann. In response, a group of concerned citizens formed Ferals in Peril, Inc. a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit group, to humanely lower the homeless cat population through a trap/neuter/release program.
In seven years we have been involved in more than 1000 spays/neuters and found homes for hundreds of cats and kittens. Today there are very few homeless cats in Hermann area.
We receive no money from any government entity. Our work is done with donations. Our members help in a variety of ways; trapping, providing temporary shelter, transporting cats, designing signs, fund raising, record keeping, and watching for new homeless cats throughout the Hermann area. It would not be possible to continue with these statistics without the help of everyone involved . Please join us .... We meet the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm in the Hermann Library.
